TSC Sports Academy
The academy was founded in March 2009 in which we opened the doors to all children to come and train at football, using local and international coaches to set the training.
After sometime we have formed the following teams- under . The aim of the project is to create opportunities for the children to have a future career in sports while raising awareness in the local communities of children's rights.
The teams have trained and achieved a huge amount in the time the academy has been opened. The teams have played in some major tournaments within the Mwanza Region and Rollingstones Tournament in Arusha which included International teams from neighbouring African countries.
Recently we have received the exciting news that our team have been accepted for the South Africa Street Children World Cup 2010. In preparation for the tournament we will be organising a tournament within Mwanza for Street Children to attend. This will help us to choose a team to for the tournament; we will be using this tournament and all training time as a tool to raising awareness about children's rights.
In preparation for next summer we will locate a team of Under 16's, they will be trained with the help of a recent new sponsor of ours, Arsenal FC. They will be joining our academy in January in which they will be sending out two international coaches to train and prepare the children for the coming tournament.
For the year ahead we will be focusing on using the academy to help local children and spending time with the project in rural areas counselling and assisting children and their families.
We also hope to expand the football training ground within Mwanza to utilize the space we have in order to expand the academy.
