Cheka Sana Childrens Trust is a non-profit charity in the UK working to help street children in Tanzania. Cheka Sana are currently concentrating their work and support in the city of Mwanza by the edge of Lake Victoria, where it is estimated that there are over 800 children living on the streets.
There are many different stressors that can cause children to live on the streets. The majority of children have either suffered abuse by adults in their homes or lack family support. As a family’s income decreases, children from poor families are forced to leave their homes to live on the streets where conditions are extremely bleak.
They have nowhere else to go in order to survive.
With this in mind Cheka Sana is devoted to helping these children and the community and endeavour to maintain our vision of providing the tools necessary to enable the local community to offer their children their fundamental rights in order to empower them with the prospect of a sustainable future. |
